We are a private, not-for-profit, volunteer medical service organization that provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries and in the United States. We treat those suffering from disabling arthritis and other debilitating bone and joint conditions.
Who We Are
Our History
We have been providing free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries and in the United States since 2008. We have delivered care across more than six countries in South America, Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide free joint replacement surgeries to those without access to such procedures and to educate local healthcare providers to enhance the delivery of orthopedic care. We provide all care including joint replacement implants at no cost.
What We Do
Operation Walk Maryland uses the best-trained and skilled healthcare providers to deliver the highest level of care. There is no cost to the patient or community that we serve. All time and supplies are provided through donations. Joint replacements greatly enhance the quality of life of those suffering with arthritis pain, so they can be more active members of their communities.

Our team works year-round to coordinate ambitious medical missions around the world. Operation Walk Maryland is committed to expanding our impact to get as many people as possible back on their feet. Our highly-skilled volunteers are also dedicated to driving sustainable progress in our host hospitals and partnering with their faculty for development opportunities.
